By accessing or using Locked In ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
Locked In is a habit accountability platform that uses financial commitment as motivation. Users commit money (between $100-$250 USD) and have 21 days to complete their chosen habit daily to earn that money back through randomized reward days.
When you start a 21-day commitment, you lock in an amount between $100-$250 USD. This money is held securely via Stripe until your 21-day period ends.
Random days during your 21-day commitment will have monetary rewards attached (typically between $10-$40 per reward day). You will not know which days have rewards or their amounts until the day after you complete your habit. If you successfully complete your habit on a reward day, you earn that amount back. If you complete all 21 days, you will earn back most or all of your committed amount.
If you fail to complete your habit on any day, you forfeit the potential reward from that day. All forfeited money becomes revenue of Locked In and will not be returned, donated to charity, or redistributed to other users.
This is the core accountability mechanism of the Service. By using Locked In, you explicitly acknowledge and accept that any money forfeited due to missing a day becomes the property of Locked In.
You must complete your chosen habit every day for 21 consecutive days.
You must submit valid proof of completion daily through approved methods (Strava, Apple Health, GitHub integrations, or photo verification). Fraudulent submissions will result in immediate forfeiture of all committed funds and termination of your account.
Your habit must be specific, measurable, and verifiable. Vague habits (e.g., "exercise") are not acceptable. Clear habits (e.g., "run 2 miles") are required.
Once you commit money and start a 21-day challenge, there are no refunds, cancellations, or modifications. This is non-negotiable and essential to the Service's accountability model.
Exceptions may be made only in cases of:
Personal emergencies, illness, travel, or change of mind do not qualify for refunds.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Locked In does not store or have access to your credit card information. By using the Service, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Locked In reserves the right to terminate your account if you:
Terminated accounts forfeit all committed money and are permanently banned from the Service.
Locked In is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
You acknowledge that you are voluntarily participating in a financial commitment program and accept full responsibility for any money you forfeit.
Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You waive your right to a jury trial or class action lawsuit.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
